Global Health Disaster Network. This is a fairly comprehensive
listing of disaster resource sites on the web. Sites from all over
the globe are represented. If you're looking for one stop shopping
for disaster related information, this is a great place to start.
U.S.
Dept. of Health and Human Services - Office of Emergency Preparedness.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Emergency
Preparedness, (HHS/OEP) coordinates the Department's efforts to
provide assistance to supplement State and Local resources in response
to public health and medical care needs following a disaster or
event. Disaster and events include: Natural Disasters; Technological
Disasters; and Terrorism. The U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services is the primary agency under Emergency Support Function
#8 of the Federal Response Plan to coordinate the Federal health
and medical services to areas affected by disasters. This site includes
detailed information about the 2001 National Disaster Medical System
conference.
Radiation
Emergency Assistance Center Radioactive
materials are among the many kinds of hazardous substances emergency
responders might have to deal with in an accident. This site contains
useful emergency managment information for both hospital and prehospital
personnel.
Federal
Emergency Management Agency.
The FEMA site is very well done with
a terrific blend of information and graphics. The site reflects
FEMA's increased influence and responsiveness in disaster planning
and recovering and is well worth a visit. Those who dislike receiving
"cookies" from web sites will find that this site wishes
to set quite a few of them.
National
Transportation Safety Board.
This web site has many of the NTSB accident
investigation reports, including reports for the Universe Explorer
fire and Star Princess grounding, are available for download in
PDF format. Still other reports are available for ordering
through the site.

Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) Page.
This page is very useful. It not only provides a wealth of information
about the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) but it provides
links to NDMS and DMAT sites throughout the country.

Division of Emergency Services.
The ADES, a division within the Department
of Military and Veterans Affairs, is responsible for statewide disaster
planning and response. This agency staffs the State Emergency Response
Commission (SERC) and the ADES site contains links to the SERC home
page, as well as to other emergency related sites. The site
contains a well done
training calendar,
too.

Alaska-1 Disaster Medical Team (AK-1 DMAT) is a Federally sponsered,
local volunteer based responder to disasters.
Western
Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center.
If you live on the Alaska coastline
of Alaska, you know about the risks of tsunamis. The West
Coast/Alaska Tsunami Warning Center (WC/ATWC), located in Palmer,
Alaska, serves as the Tsunami Warning Center for Alaska, British
Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and California. Dedicated in September
of 1967, the WC/ATWC is the nerve center for an elaborate, real
time, state of the art, network of seismic stations around the world
and tide stations located throughout the Pacific Ocean.
