What is TRAIN?
The Division of Public Health, Section of Community Health
and EMS, Primary Care and Rural Health Unit is in the process
of obtaining a State site on the national web-based TrainingFinder
Real-time Affiliate Integrated Network (TRAIN) which is
under development by the Public Health Foundation.
The primary objective of TRAIN
is to establish a single, easy to find and use, learning
management system for public health which would enable public
health workforce partners to seamlessly share courses, content
data, track trainees and other critical information about
collective training efforts. The TRAIN learning management
system will keep track of the training opportunities in
Alaska and nationally, and will track the training participation
andcontinuing education units or credits participants received
for completing the training course. Eventually this system
will link to core competencies for particular positions
which will allow management to quickly see what training
courses personnel need to maintain competency or certification.
Piloting in this area will support the Division of Public
Health's overall workforce initiatives.
